According the biblical texts, Bethsaida was the hometown of the apostles Hz. Sam’un رضي الله عنه (Saint Peter), Hz. Andrew رضي الله عنه, and Hz. Philip رضي الله عنه.

Hz. Isa عليه اسلام criticised the Galilean fishing village of Bethsaida for its inhabitants’ lack of faith.

It is said that at least three of its (Bethsaida) native residents — Hz. Sam’un رضي الله عنه (Saint Peter), Hz. Andrew رضي الله عنه, and Hz. Philip رضي الله عنه — responded to his call and gave up everything to follow him.

In the Gospel many miracles happened in or near this place. Hz. Isa عليه اسلام reportedly restored a blind man’s sight at a place just outside the ancient village of Bethsaida.

In Luke 9:10-11, Jesus miraculously feeds five thousand near Bethsaida.

And from the Bethsaida shore Hz. Isa عليه اسلام was seen walking on the Sea of Galilee.

Even after showing lots of miracles in or near this village, Hz. Isa عليه اسلام cursed this village because it’s inhabitants didn’t believed in his message of oneness of Allah.

Despite the locals spiritual blindness, Bethsaida is one of the most frequently mentioned towns in the New Testament.

These ruins that lies here are said to have belonged to Bethsaida.
