Castle and Well of Hz. Urwah ibn Zubayr رضي الله عنه

According to tradition this is the house of famous tabain who was among the seven famous jurist of his time in Medinah sharif

Hz. Urwah ibn al-Zubayr رضي الله عنه was among the seven fuqaha (jurists) who formulated the fiqh of Medina in the time of the Tabi‘in and one of the Muslim historians.

He was the son of Hz. Zubayr ibn al-Awwam رضي الله عنه and Bibi Asma’ bint Abu Bakr رضي الله عنها. He was also the brother of Hz. Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr رضي الله عنه and the nephew of Bibi Aisha bint Abu Bakr رضي الله عنها.

According to tradition Hz. Urwah bin Zubair رضي الله عنه purchased a portion of Khawwat bin Jubair’s and converted it into a farm and also built a large fortress on it.

Hz. Urwah رضي الله عنه also had a well dug near this complex to water his land for the purpose of cultivation.

The castle of Urwah, also known as the Castle of Urwah was discovered and excavated in 2013.

In 2013, the historical ruins of an Ottoman era castle were unearthed in excavations.

Among the discoveries were pottery, glass, tools made of stone, and steatite utensils, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.
