Mughaisilah Masjid

Built by Hz. Umar Bin Abdul Aziz رضي الله عنه , Bani Dinar Mosque is built on the location where Prophet ﷺ prayed

Medinah Sharif, Saudi Arabia

Coordinates: 24.458929, 39.604656

Also Known as Bani Dinar Mosque, it is named as such because it is located where the tribe of Bani Dinar lived.

It is said that Hz. Abu Bakr as-Siddiq رضي الله عنه fell ill while staying with his wife (who was from the tribe of Bani Dinar).

The Prophet ﷺ would visit Hz. Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه there and would increase his prayers during this time and this mosque was erected in the same area that the Prophet ﷺ prayed.

The premises area of this mosque is about 90 square meters.

During the rulership of Hz. Umar Ibn ‘Abd al-Aziz رضي الله عنه over Madinah, first building on the site was erected (86-91 AH).

The actual size of the mosque is very small, about 10 square meters, and the distance between it and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medinah Sharif is about 1 kilometer.

Some Muslims have a concept that offering Salaat at such Masaajid is Bid’at, it is not correct.

Hz. Umar Bin Abdul Aziz رضي الله عنه who built many Masajid at those locations where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prayed, surely Hz. Umar رضي الله عنه was more wise.

And it was famous for Hz. Abdullaah Bin Umar رضي الله عنه that he remembered those locations & whenever he crossed such an area, he used to offer Salaat on that soil.

As per Hadith of Bibi Aa’isha رضي الله عنها there is no one like him who has followed in each and everything on the foot steps of Hz. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
