Hz. Yaqub ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim عليه اسلام (also Isra’il), is a prophet in Islam.

Muslims believe that he preached the same monotheistic faith as did his forefathers: Hz. Ibrahim عليه اسلام, Hz. Ishaq عليه اسلام and Hz. Ismael عليه اسلام.

Muslims hold that Hz. Yaqub عليه اسلام was the son of Hz. Ishaq عليه اسلام and that he preached the Oneness of Allah throughout his life.

As in Christianity and Judaism, Islam holds that Hz. Yaqub عليه اسلام had twelve sons, each of which would go on to father the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

Hz. Yaqub عليه اسلام plays a significant role in the story of his son, Hz. Yusuf عليه اسلام.

The Quran further makes it clear that Allah made a covenant with Hz. Yaqub عليه اسلام and Hz. Yaqub عليه اسلام was made a faithful leader by Allah’s command. His grandfather Hz.
