Commonly knows as Abraham’s well, it is a historical water well in Beersheba, Palestine, associated with the jewish narrative of Hz. Ibrahim عليه اسلام.

As the original structure dates back to 1000 years back, this is not the original Abraham’s well. But it is said that it is built on the spot where the original well once was (acc. to some sources)

The original well itself goes back 3800 years and is the foundational area where Hz. Ibrahim عليه اسلام, Bibi Sarah رضي الله عنها, Hz. Ishaq عليه اسلام preached the message of monotheism and oneness of Allah.

This site is sacred for all three major religions.

Purpose

Water is a key in the desert. This well is a stop over for people for the last 38 centuries. The site is excellent as well. A must see!

While the well seen today at the visitor’s center, in addition to another, does not date back to Abraham’s actual time, it dates back to at least 1,000 years ago.

It would be wonderful to have the original well from Abraham’s time, but wells go through numerous changes in history.

There would be no way possible that the original structure of a well built 4,000 years ago could be preserved in its original state.

Even during the time of Hz. Ishaq عليه اسلام, jewish sources relates that Hz. Ishaq عليه اسلام returned to Beersheba and had to dig a new well. Why? Because his father’s original wells had been destroyed.”

The well served as a kind of cafe back then, a meeting place for people.

For Hz. Ibrahim عليه اسلام, this was the perfect place he could speak about the belief in one God.”

3D Movie about the well

You walk through a multimedia path and sit in an auditorium for a really well done movie.

The theme is that Hz. Ibrahim عليه اسلام is the father of three religions, three peoples. A necessary message for our times. The well itself may not seem spectacular, but you understand its place in history.
