Capernaum, Israel Occupied Palestine
Coordinates: 32.881000, 35.575230
Being the home town of Hz. Sam’un رضي الله عنه (Saint Peter), all four gospels report that Hz. Isa عليه اسلام visited Capernaum in Galilee and often attended the synagogue there.
Capernaum is also one of the three cities which Hz. Isa عليه اسلام cursed because, even after showing miracles, of their lack of faint in oneness of Allah.
House of Hz. Sam’un رضي الله عنه (Saint Peter) is closer to this synagogue.
Some of the Christians sources describes as follows:
Hz. Isa عليه اسلام worshipped and taught in the synagogue where his teaching made a deep impression on the local people.
One Sabbath, Hz. Isa عليه اسلام taught in the synagogue in Capernaum and healed a man who was possessed by an unclean spirit. Hz. Isa عليه اسلام sternly to the possessed man “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching — and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
Hz. Isa عليه اسلام healed many people of illness or possession by the devil, including Hz. Sam’un’s رضي الله عنه mother-in-law and the daughter of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue.
This is also the place where Hz. Isa عليه اسلام healed the servant of a Roman centurion who had asked for his help.
Hz. Isa عليه اسلام pronounced a curse on the town, along with Bethsaida and Chorazin, because so many of its inhabitants refused to believe in him and went on believing in their pagan rituals.
